MadonnaMadonna has never been a fave of music critics. She transformed music in the ’80s, rock and roll hall of fame was able to reinvent herself and race to the head of each new trend. But many critics saw that as crass commercialism and called her out for her mediocre voice. Now the debate has spilled over into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame, which will induct Madge tonight in New York. “It seems like this is driven by commercial achievement and sales, rather than having anything to do with the rock ‘n’ roll genre,” according to Steve Morse, a Boston Globe music critic.
